The City Kitch Launches Charitable Organization and Partners with Feeding Charlotte
Charlotte, N.C., May 18, 2022 - The City Kitch, a commercial kitchen operator and technology service provider announces the launch of The City Kitchen Community Works, an independent organization exempt under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3), whose mission is to provide prepared meals to people in need in the communities where it operates.
City Kitch Community Works was created to play a part in addressing food insecurity in our communities by providing prepared meals to community members who are currently experiencing food insecurity. The prepared meals will be distributed through our partnership with Feeding Charlotte, a leader in rescuing excess food from local organizations and redistributing them to people in need.
“Feeding Charlotte is proud to partner with The City Kitch Community Works to ensure their food donations are safely delivered to those who need them most. Their innovative mission will nourish our hungry neighbors, while providing them with a sense of dignity,” said Kim Aprill, Executive Director of Feeding Charlotte.
The City Kitch Community Works organization will also source prepared meals from local food businesses emerging out of the pandemic. We believe this effort positively impacts the sustainability of these small businesses which addresses food insecurity in another way.
“The City Kitch exists to serve local small food businesses by providing them access to locations, equipment, distribution channels, technology, training, and other services that otherwise might not be available to them. It was a natural progression for us to ask ourselves, how can we extend this service mentality out to the communities we live and operate in. The City Kitchen Community Works organization was the answer. We invite all members of our communities to join the effort if they believe in this mission and are moved to support it,” said Jim Swain, Managing Director of The City Kitch.
The organization is soliciting recurring sponsorships of prepared meals online. To learn more and to support the mission by sponsoring prepared meals, visit www.thecitykitch.com/donate.
